We are currently smack dab in the middle of the summer months. Children are on summer vacation and just want to have fun. As a parent, you want your child to enjoy themselves, but you also want them to be living a healthy lifestyle. Here are a few great tips for keeping your children healthy this summer!
Drink Plenty Of Water
To put it simply, children do not drink enough water. The summer sometimes brings unbearable amounts of heat, which makes it extremely important to stay hydrated. Whenever they leave to play outside, pack them a water bottle. It is important you monitor their water consumption because dehydration is no joke.
Stay Under The Shade and Wear Sunscreen
The sun’s rays supply humans with vitamin D. In that way, it is healthy; however, overexposure to the sun can be disastrous. The good news is that it can be avoided using the right precautionary measures. When possible, keep your child in the shade. You can also make them wear hats and sunglasses for additional protection. In addition, you will want to have plenty of sunscreen on hand at all times.
Summer fruits are amazing! They are jam-packed in nutrients and are absolutely delicious. Children tend to like fruits because they are sweet like candy. If you feed your child fruit on a regular basis, it actually helps keep their bodies cool against the summer heat.
Cook Homemade Healthy Foods
With all the cookouts, carnivals, and parties in the summer months, there are a lot of bad temptations when it comes to food. The majority of kids have a difficult time turning down sweets and fatty foods. As a parent, you can do them an incredible service by showing them how amazing healthy homemade foods can be. For example, you could make a grilled chicken salad with vegetables from the local farmers market.
