Fall is upon us! It is a beautiful time of the year with all sorts of fun family-oriented festivities! It can be challenging to keep your child living a healthy lifestyle through the fall months where there are unhealthy temptations everywhere. However, here are some ways you can keep your child healthy this fall!
Pack Their School Lunch
If you want to control what your child eats at lunch, then pack their lunch! Unless you instruct your school how your child is supposed to be spending their lunch money, children can’t always be trusted to buy what they are supposed to. Instead of buying milk, they may be too tempted by the chocolate chip cookies available for purchase. By packing your child’s lunch, you can ensure they are getting their necessary servings of fruits and veggies!
Exercise With Them
Just because the temperature has dropped off a tad does not mean your child should be cooped up inside! Fall is a beautiful time of the year! The leaves on trees change a different color, and the outside temperature is nice and crisp. It can be extremely beneficial if a parent exercises with their child. It will show the child the importance of exercise. Remember, a simple walk around a park is better than nothing!
Limit Screen Time
Children need to be told that they can only spend so much time in front of a television or computer screen. You don’t want your child to become addicted to these kinds of sedentary activities and neglect exercise. With that said, you need to set a limit on your child’s screen time. If you don’t instruct them to stop they could be on these devices for hours at a time. If you are one of the many parents, who believe that their child spends too much time in front of a screen but not enough time exercising you should set a rule. For example, you can tell them they are not allowed to watch tv until they have exercised that day.
